weekend wrap up.

I love Sundays. For many reasons but specific to the the Blog World, I love Sundays because people usually update their blogs on Sunday afternoons/ nights. Or maybe that's just my prime blog stalking time so it just seems as new posts are always up. Either way, I enjoy it!

This weekend has been busy, but fun! I decided to spruce up the Butterfly Garden in our back-back yard and went to Home Depot by myself (that's right- never thought I'd see the day) to get some flowers.

This is a portion of the garden so far. Plants (outdoor or indoor) do not typically have a long lifespan at the Lester household so I'm hoping with a little TLC that these can hang in there (at least a few weeks maybe).

Our air conditioner still. is. not. working. Being the glass half full kinda gal that I am have learned to appreciate some pros(2) to the endless obvious cons of this predicament. Clearly, the cons are sweating (especially when getting ready after a shower UGH), carrying a fan with you from room to room, and having the heat hit you like a brick wall upon entering the house. But I'm not here to complain, ha! The Pros include..loss of much water weight due to the puddles of sweat excreted, and my tweaked priorities of my future home. I now only dream of three things in a house: a big bathroom, laundry room, and AIR CONDITIONING. See.. I'm simple, easy to please just give me AC. The Rave appreciates our sauna of a house, because they are banking off our misery. My mother and I have seen three movies in a week. For those of you who know me that is not a shocking statement. But, my mother on the other hand doesn't usually see three movies in a year. We have now checked Babies, Letters to Juliet, and Diary of a Wimpy Kid off the list. All three extremely different and all were good, yet I only care to see them the one time!

I have a recent obsession with HGTV. House Hunters, House Hunters International, Design to Sell, Take it Outside, and everything else on the channel has recently become an addiction. My sweet rooms tweeted that this is a new obession of hers too. Seeing as how I am going to T-town tomorrow to visit, I am thinking an HGTV Monday marathon may be in order, ha!

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend.

inspiration station.

Lately I am inspired to...
1. Blog. Shocking, I know.
2. Journal. You might think this is the same as above, but not hardly. These will later serve as my memory, for I already have the mind of an 89 year old Alzheimers patient.
3. Exercise. We can only hope this inspiration lasts; for I and all the memembers of the YMCA pool will benefit from this inspiration as long as it continues.
4. Organize. This is about as shocking as number 1.

Looky here though:
This is my "junk" draw before. Hoarder, not a hoarder?! It's debatable.

But now, look how clean and organized..

And a few hidden gems that made my heart smile along the way:

My high school schedule, the jingle bell snowman earrings I so fashionably sported to the sixth grade "Winter dance", the wooden bear with my name on it that I LOVED as a child, and the dreaded Tomagattchi (sp?). There are just some things I can't part from.

On the organization note, look at this snazzy little week planner that was in my Easter basket! As a girl who thrives on planning, this makes my life!

5. Throw on that aapron and cook. If I was only inspired to find a new recipe, buy the ingredients, and clean the dishes..

Happy Hump Day!!

bithday wishin' and good news.

Happy Happy Birthday to my now twenty year old sister! LOVE YOU!!

And now for the good news...On my first day of work at the church yesterday I found out they are taking a white water rafting trip this summer! This is exciting to me, because white water rafting was on my list of things to do this year and it was questionable that I could find anyone to go with me. I have not been white water rafting since seventh grade choir tour and I am so excited, and obviously..just can't hide it.
But wait, there's more.. Katie and I are going to Sips-n-Strokes soon, and I am PUMPED!! We are painting "Funky Trees" and pictures are promised to follow.

Happy Tuesday to everyone!

chillin out maxin relaxin all cool.

This summer has been lovely so far. The air conditioner is past being on the fritz at the Lester household, so needless to say I had a very WARM welcome home. Since my mother and I have a somewhat low tolerance of miserableness we decided to journey to Target and Wal Mart (I know, we got Crazzzy) Friday night. But, the trip turned out to be eventful. I got a new pair of shoes (always a plus), Leap Year (L-O-V-E this movie), some coloring books, and bubbles! I celebrated the summer like a 5 year old, and I am NOT complaining!

Saturday my mother and I did our best to avoid the heat again, and went to see the movie Babies. Uhh, it was interesting. I am glad I went to see it, but will not be seeing in three times in theaters as usual. Saturday night Rach and I went to Newks which never fails. She was just home for the weekend, but came home for the summer officially today. Rach--can't wait to conquer our summer "Bucket List".

Sunday was Mother's Day, but I'm sure you knew that. Here is a special shout out to Pamela Ann who is the domb dot com! We went to the Weed Patch, which is what we call my Grandparent's farm.

Hope everyone had a great weekendend! I am sorry for the complete play-by-play!

and the birds sing

I have found a new favorite artist. I heard him for the first time on Private Practice singing "And the Birds Sing", so I have been researching all of his songs and I have yet to find one that I am not in love with. Plus I tweeted him and he actually responded..TWICE. Twitter is so cool.

Here's a listen:

And the lyrics to one of my other favorites, "Wondering Where You Are"
Will you like to watch the sunrise
Will you have blue or brown eyes
What are the dreams you long to share

I hope you like Stevie Wonder
Are you afraid of thunder
I close my eyes and say a prayer youre out there somewhere

Chorus:
I've been waiting all my life for you
I've been wishing on every shining star
I've been watching out of my window
Wondering where you are Wondering where you are

My heart's my only treasure
I've been saving it for your pleasure
I can't wait to give my heart to you

We'll walk this road together
That leads us to forever
I close my eyes and say a prayer your out there somewhere

Chorus

Too many nights alone
And this house won't be a home until I'm with you

I've been waiting all my life for you
I've been wishing on every shining star

Chorus

Wondering where you are Wondering where you are
Wondering where you are Wondering where you are

Those are the sweetest lyrics I have ever heard. Check Mr. Wells out he is AWESOME.

It is Thursday! It is Thursday! One final away from SUMMER!

At the beginning of the year I made a list of 25 things I wanted to do in 2010. And here are some I am hoping to accomplish in the Summer portion of the year. And the list goes..

6. Do a random community service project.
8. Do a 5k- There is one on June 5th I want to do..cough, cough..KATIE.
9. Read Redeeming Love.
10. Watch the Ron Clark story.
11. Try 5 new recipes. I am excited for this. I got an Anthro aapron in my Easter Basket and it is dying to be used.
12. Watch Gone with the Wind- because I have never seen it and I feel it is my obligation as a Southerner.
13. Go white water rafting. Uhhh, anyone want to do that?
16. tube the cahaba river. (more realistic that white water rafting)

18. Look at the Birmingham skyline at night.
19. Learn to say 3 foreign phrases. Not would probably be the prime time to learn these.

monday's musings.

Yet again pictures will not upload to my blog. I am not exactly sure why this is happening. All you tech savy individuals out there, can you explain why when I upload a picture it just comes up as a bunch of random letters? Like, HELLO blogger,

asdkjhfkjdsfhdkjsj**&%alkjbs-%6303893028$5.... is NOT the picture I just tried to upload. (That is seriously what it looks like, except 4 or 5 lines of the random letters).

Anyways,it is exam week. Oh lovely exam week. There are pros/ cons to exam week and they include.
On the Pro side:
-No class (duh, always a plus)
-Motivation to do anything besides studying increases significantly. Meaning, my room is usually cleaner, the blog gets updated, exercising is finally a main priority, etc.
-Studying is the "cool" thing to do. It seems like everyone becomes equal during exam week.

On the Con side:
-Gorgas's fountain drinks get completely sold out, due to staying open 24/7.
-The library is super awkward because the 1/2 of the student population is invading the 3rd floor of Gorgas. This means when you look up from your computer for a split second you make eye contact with the dude sitting DIRECTLY across from you, immediately you turn away only to make eye contact with the girl on your right. This awkward interaction coninues to happen until you NEVER look up from your computer again. But, Bottom line= people are EVERYWHERE.
-Stress eating, and drinking. But not diet dew from the fountain..nope, because they are sold out.

To all fellow students: Good luck and Happy Studying.

To end what will hopefully be a prodcutive day at Gorgas, I am going on a B.Y.O.S. (bring your own sandwich) picnic at the River Walk tonight to celebrate/ cry over people dispersing for the summer.

After summer, I will be a Junior, so CRAZY. Time flies, as all the wise people say. Until then, I'm gunna try to soak it all in.
